Kristen Gensel
Kristen Gensel serves as the Church Office Manager and Secretary.
Where did you grow up, and what do you remember most about that time?
I grew up right here in Hollywood, Fl. What I remember most is the time spent with family, swimming in the pool on hot summer days, awesome family vacations, and listening to my dad play the organ and my mom sing in the choir at Church on Sunday mornings.
What other work did you do before you came to your current work at First Presbyterian?
Before coming to First Presbyterian, I worked at WW as a Guide to help people with their health goals. It was great to be able to give encouragement and make sure everyone felt their best and stayed positive, even if they didn't have a great week. I also worked at an arts and crafts store where people of all ages came to bring their creative side to life. We helped them paint on all different kinds of pottery pieces and then put them in kilns so they could have their artwork forever.
What motivates you in your work here at the church, and what do you like most about what you do?
My biggest motivator, besides feeling closer to God, would have to be the people. Both the ones I work with and the members and visitors of this Church. Their kindness and warmth, and willingness to help others, and the desire to make this a Church for all makes me proud to be a part of it. Being a part of that, and being able to use my creative abilities to help the Church come alive is what I love most.
What does your faith mean to you? How does it help you in your daily life?
My faith means everything to me. It's what keeps me going every day. Knowing I have this wonderful relationship with God that is ever-growing, that He has my back even in the darkest of days, and loves me no matter what, makes me feel like I can weather any storm. Having faith in Him gives me faith in myself.
What are some of the things you like to do, hobbies, favorites shows, other activities?
I love spending time with my family, swimming, traveling and going on adventures, and relaxing. My current favorite TV show is Stranger Things, my favorite movie (series) of all time is Harry Potter, and I also love watching various ghost adventures on YouTube. When I'm not with family or friends, you can find me playing Animal Crossing, dancing to music, or looking for the next big adventure!
